Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Financial Planning Officer to become a vital part of our Financial Services team at Universités Canada. As the representative voice of Canadian universities, we advocate for higher education, research, and innovation.

This role is essential in supporting our member institutions in their mission to create impactful changes, strengthen communities, and address global challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Under the guidance of the Assistant Director of Financial Planning and Analysis, you will oversee the development of budgets and financial forecasts for all association entities.
  • Act as the primary resource for supervisors, ensuring they have access to current financial data for informed planning and decision-making.
  • Facilitate the budgeting process by setting timelines, creating comprehensive spreadsheets, developing training materials, and advising staff on best practices in budgeting and financial analysis.
  • Conduct month-end financial analyses, present significant findings, and offer actionable recommendations.
  • Contribute to the year-end audit by executing journal entries, updating financial statement notes, reconciling accounts, and preparing documentation for external audits.
  • Engage in profitability assessments, scenario analysis, and financial modeling to support strategic decisions.
Qualifications
  • A university degree in accounting or finance is required.
  • Experience with financial systems such as Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Strong aptitude for learning and utilizing financial databases effectively.
  • Ability to communicate fluently in both French and English is a significant asset.
