Job Title: Water Management Specialist

Join Agnico Eagle's Environmental Department as a Water Management Specialist, reporting to the Environmental Superintendent. This role is crucial in ensuring the company's values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and environmental standards are met.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide hydrogeological, hydrological, or water treatment expertise to optimize water management strategy and ensure environmental compliance.
  • Lead studies and monitoring to better understand physical and geochemical processes related to water management.
  • Update and apply water balance, water quality, and hydrogeological models to advise decision-making.
  • Oversee water movement, management, and treatment to ensure regulatory compliance and optimization of site water balance.
  • Contribute to the life of mine water management strategy and planning.
  • Develop and maintain databases for groundwater monitoring, water balance tracking, and key water quality indicators.
  • Advise and recommend changes to improve mine operations.
  • Develop procedures and operating instructions for water treatment plants.
  • Provide expertise in reducing risks and costs associated with water management/treatment.
  • Perform technical follow-up in the field as needed.
  • Collaborate with Environmental and Tailings groups and external consultants on permitting and regulatory processes.
  • Coach, mentor, and train site personnel on water management and treatment.
  • Review, document, and ensure information accuracy.
  • Organize and participate in water management meetings and presentations.
  • Assist with developing CapEx and OpEx cost estimates and schedules.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • 5-7 years of work experience in hydrogeology, hydrology, water treatment, or water resources management.
  • Knowledge of tailing storage facility design concepts, water chemistry, and associated water management infrastructure.
  • Experience with GoldSim, Leapfrog, ArcGIS, and other modeling software is considered an asset.
  • Experience with EQuIS environmental management software is considered an asset.
  • Mining experience is considered an asset, specifically underground water management.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications.
