Financial Controls Analyst

Position Overview:

As a key member of the Corporate Finance division, you will engage in financial controls management, emphasizing corporate governance and compliance processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the successful execution of the internal control over financial reporting (ICFR) strategy by participating in walkthrough sessions with pertinent stakeholders across various business units and external auditors.
  • Develop, implement, and conduct thorough assessments of ICFR controls within corporate and investment operations, adhering to established auditing standards.
  • Assess and critically analyze the design and operational efficiency of internal controls, recommend improvements, and investigate the root causes of control deficiencies. Ensure the formulation of appropriate action plans and conduct follow-up testing for remediation.
  • Serve as a liaison between external auditors and Sun Life, supporting the controls aspect of external audits while ensuring effective collaboration and utilization of management's internal controls testing.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting; CPA designation is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in public accounting is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance and financial control evaluation.
  • Experience in the insurance sector is advantageous.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities are essential, as this role involves direct interaction with various departments and external auditors.
  • Strong organizational skills and a commitment to meeting deadlines are crucial.
  • Capability to collaborate with diverse team members in a dynamic setting.
  • Ability to work autonomously while effectively supporting team objectives.
