About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health, Safety Specialist to join our team at Clearpath Robotics. As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in implementing and maintaining our health, safety, and environmental programs across our offices.
Key Responsibilities
- Spearhead the development and implementation of Clearpath Robotics' health, safety, and environmental programs, ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate hazards, conduct risk assessments, and perform workplace audits, providing expert guidance on preventative measures.
- Engage with senior leadership to discuss safety plans, audit actions, and incident trends, and secure management support for health, safety, and environmental initiatives.
- Develop and maintain the health, safety, and environmental training matrix, providing and tracking necessary training for employees.
- Deliver engaging safety talks, toolbox talks, and tailgate talks to enhance safety awareness and engagement among employees.
- Administer and develop health, safety, and environmental programs in conjunction with operations, human resources, and other departments, promoting a culture of safety as a collective effort.
- Lead investigations into workplace injuries and illnesses, implementing preventative actions to prevent recurrence.
- Manage workers' compensation claims, ensuring timely submissions, coordinating return-to-work programs, and maintaining accurate documentation.
- Lead Joint Health and Safety Committee activities, ensuring meetings, inspections, and certifications are up to par.
- Establish and test emergency preparedness and response procedures, enhancing the organization's resilience and preparedness.
- Facilitate compliance with internal and external audit programs, actively participating in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in a rotation call schedule for health, safety, and environmental matters.
- Work from our offices in Kitchener, Waterloo, and Cambridge.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience in health and safety in a manufacturing or automation environment.
- Post-secondary education or diploma in occupational health and safety.
- Professional health, safety, and environmental designation is preferred but not mandatory.
- Excellent knowledge of occupational health and safety acts for industrial establishments.
- Previous experience with various safety programs, such as job safety analyses, lockout/tagout procedures.
- Experience in overseeing and supporting the functioning of Joint Health and Safety Committees.
- Ability to facilitate the organization of health, safety, and wellness events, with a focus on emergency preparedness and response.
- Good knowledge of environmental systems, such as spill control and waste management.
- Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Understanding and experience with ergonomics as it relates to repetitive assembly processes is an asset.
- Ability to travel to Clearpath Robotics' offices in Kitchener, Waterloo, and Cambridge.
