Heavy Equipment Operator

Objective
The Rock Truck / Equipment Operator at Holcim is responsible for a variety of tasks including site maintenance, operation of both fixed and mobile machinery used in aggregate production, and performing routine upkeep and repairs as instructed.Attractive compensation based on experience, along with a comprehensive benefits and pension plan after a probationary period.Key Responsibilities
Maintenance and Operations:
Collaborate effectively within a team of colleagues, supervisors, and management.Execute cleanup tasks utilizing a skid steer and/or hand tools, ensuring safety around operational machinery while adhering to personal protective equipment guidelines.Conduct pre-operational inspections and operate designated mobile equipment as per training and directives.Perform scheduled maintenance checks and lubrication of plant machinery following established procedures and manuals.Assist in troubleshooting and repairing malfunctioning equipment.Support plant repair activities as necessary.Keep supervisors updated on any issues impacting assigned tasks.Be adaptable as specific job responsibilities may change based on operational needs.Health & Safety:
Adhere to all OHSA regulations and standards.Utilize all required personal protective equipment.Maintain strict compliance with Holcim safety protocols and procedures.Report all incidents, near misses, and safety concerns to the supervisor.Follow Lockout/Tag out procedures diligently.Be aware of the emergency response plan.Be prepared to work rotating shifts, overtime, and weekends as necessary.Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills.Demonstrate reliability by following instructions and responding to supervisory guidance.Environmental Management:
Ensure compliance with Holcim and regulatory environmental standards.Be vigilant about environmentally sensitive areas and proactively address any environmental issues that arise in the work area.Additional Duties:
Carry out other tasks as assigned to support the efficient functioning of the plant and site.Dependability:
Follow directions, work collaboratively within a team, and respond to supervisory instructions.Safety Profile:
Comply with OHSA regulations and all relevant safety protocols.Wear all necessary personal protective equipment as mandated.Strict adherence to Holcim safety rules and procedures is essential.Report all incidents, near misses, and safety hazards to the supervisor.Follow Lockout/Tag out/Try out procedures meticulously.Maintain awareness of the emergency response plan.Qualifications
Education & Experience:
Prior experience in construction, mining, or operating heavy machinery is preferred.Certification as a Surface Miner or training in Rock Truck operation is required.Basic welding and fitting skills are necessary.A minimum of an Ontario high school diploma (OSSD) or equivalent is required.Mechanical aptitude is essential.Willingness to work rotating shifts, overtime, and weekends is expected.Strong written and verbal communication skills are important.Dependability and the ability to follow instructions are crucial.Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
Work outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions.Work indoors in diverse environments (e.g., hot, noisy, dusty).Be prepared for rotating shifts, overtime, and weekend work as needed.Ability to move freely throughout all areas of the plant.Work at heights as required.Physical capability to perform job duties effectively.We appreciate your interest.
