Your Role

BDO Digital is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to become part of our expanding team, with the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere in Canada. The selected candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Designing cloud-native solutions for an advanced CI/CD ecosystem
  • Collaborating with a talented group of engineers to create real-world cloud-scale solutions across both public and private cloud environments
  • Contributing to a team of dedicated platform engineers focused on building platforms in Azure, AWS, and GCP public clouds
  • Advocating for automation and best practices in infrastructure
  • Developing educational resources for fellow engineers, including sample cloud-native applications and starter code
  • Continuously enhancing technical skills and applying them in daily tasks
  • Providing mentorship to colleagues
  • Demonstrating excellent oral and written communication skills, along with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Leading the installation, upgrades, and integration of current and future Kubernetes platforms, technologies, and tools.
  • Establishing criteria for evaluating third-party vendors and software, as well as conducting due diligence exercises.
  • Designing and implementing highly available, scalable, and resilient applications for both cloud-native and traditional technology stacks
  • Creating detailed plans and accurate estimates for the design, build, implementation, and stabilization phases of projects.
  • Defining, planning, and executing high-level team activities, including recommendations for architectural and process enhancements
  • Suggesting strategies to reduce costs and improve efficiencies with supported vendor software and written code to ensure optimal resource utilization.
  • Guiding support staff in performance tuning and capacity planning activities within the Cloud Infrastructure platform.

Required Experience and Education

Essential Qualifications:

  • A strong passion for enhancing developer efficiency through DevOps, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code
  • 5-7 years of experience in Infrastructure Automation and Infrastructure as Code (Azure, AWS)
  • 5-7 years of experience with Terraform, Jenkins, GitHub, Ansible, Artifactory
  • 5-7 years of experience in creating and manipulating YAML files
  • 5+ years of experience as a Linux system administrator, preferably on RHEL
  • Familiarity with container platforms, ideally Kubernetes and/or Docker
  • Experience with AWS Infrastructure, Cloud Formation (Service Catalog, S3, SageMaker, RDS-SQL), Python, Java Full Stack, Azure, Packer, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Hybrid Services, ARC, Databases, OpenShift, Anthos, Networking
  • Strong communication skills essential for working in a geographically distributed team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in software development
  • Familiarity with SAFe, Kanban, or Scrum development methodologies
