Senior Manager, Tax Controversy

MNP LLP is seeking a seasoned Senior Manager to join our Tax Controversy team. As a trusted advisor, you will assist clients in preventing, managing, and resolving disputes with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and Revenu Quebec (RQ).

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of professionals and contribute to their growth and development.
  • Mentor and coach team members to achieve professional and personal goals.
  • Oversee tax dispute files from inception to resolution.
  • Represent clients in negotiations with RQ and the CRA.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with tax specialists, accountants, and other professionals to provide expert advice.
  • Manage engagement planning, scheduling, and project financials.
  • Identify tax issues, research, and analyze complex situations to develop practical solutions.
  • Stay up-to-date on new jurisprudence, taxation law, and approaches taken by taxation authorities.
  • Contribute to business development and network in the local business community.
Requirements
  • CPA designation or degree in law (Member of the Bar).
  • In-depth Tax Course or a master's in tax.
  • 6-7 years of tax controversy/litigation experience.
  • Knowledge of provincial and federal income tax and proficient in tax research.
  • Tax planning, compliance, accounting, or audit experience for mid-market clients is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of business, accounting, management, and practice development principles.
  • Proven people management, relationship building, and leadership skills.
  • Bilingual (French and English).
