About the Role
Canadian Blood Services is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our dynamic Donor Centre team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting the collection of blood and blood products in a safe and efficient manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct registration and confidential screening of donors to determine eligibility and promote a positive donor experience.
- Provide donors with information, instruction, and advice on blood donation, leveraging your excellent communication skills.
- Utilize your knowledge and experience to provide coaching and consultation to donor centre staff, acting as a team lead for collection events as needed.
- Work in a diverse team environment to assist in the collection of whole blood and/or apheresis blood components, which save lives daily.
- Assist in setting up booths, tables, and other equipment for mobile events within our communities.
Requirements
- Completion of an accredited nursing program and current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the province.
- Two years of experience working as a nurse is considered an asset, as is certification in First Aid and CPR.
- Previous experience as a preceptor or with coaching others is an asset.
- Technical skills including Microsoft Word and Outlook, and the ability to learn new systems and programs.
- A second language is considered an asset to support a positive donor experience.
