Job Summary

The University of British Columbia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Associate Registrar and Director to join its Enrolment Services team. This is a senior leadership position responsible for the strategic planning, leading and directing of the Business Solutions and Support unit and its functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and guidance on the implementation of Workday Student and other student information systems.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance the student experience and support academic partners.
  • Lead the operational oversight of Workday Academic Foundation functions, including curriculum management, learner management, enrolment, registration, learner financial management, assessment outcomes and progression.
  • Provide leadership and expertise on system-wide strategic technology enhancement student support initiatives and projects.
  • Assess and identify the interrelationship between various business units and their processes, materials, people, and systems to maximize the student system ecosystem's capabilities and support streamlined, efficient, user-focused processes.
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to ensure effective security and access frameworks for student systems.
  • Develop a strategic partnership with University Legal Council, UBC IT Information Security Management, and UBC Privacy and Information Security (PRISM) to effectively manage the protection, privacy and integrity of student records and data.
  • Provide strategic direction for policy development, standard operating procedures and service delivery standards and guidelines.
  • Work as a change agent with senior faculty, academic, and administrative stakeholders and play a leadership role in shaping and fostering continuous improvement, business transformation, and innovation.
  • Manage unit budget.
  • As a member of Registrar's Executive, contribute to the Department's strategic planning, overall budgeting and effective allocation and optimum deployment of financial, human and technical resources.
  • In collaboration with the Registrar and ES leadership team, participate in the development, promotion and management of Enrolment Service leadership values, service standards and commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion and advancement of Indigenous human rights.
  • Provide effective people leadership by hiring, coaching and actively supporting staff development and career progression, and conducting performance management and/or terminations when necessary.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to enhancing one's own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
