Job Summary

Under general supervision, this role is responsible for the management and comprehension of data networks and network security, encompassing all communication systems within the Global Information Systems Infrastructure group. The position involves monitoring, troubleshooting, and supporting core data networks and end-user connectivity, including servers, desktops, telephones, voicemail systems, mobile devices, and data connections to host systems and applications. The analyst ensures that the long-term needs of data, security, and voice systems operations and administration are fulfilled through data analysis, trend evaluation, and reporting. Responsibilities include the installation, maintenance, configuration, and integrity of data, security, and voice networks. The role also entails developing and promoting standard operating procedures, work instructions, and documentation standards. Routine audits of network and security layers are conducted to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines. On-call availability is required.

Job Responsibilities


• Holds technical accountability for the overall administration of the global data network and network security, ensuring alignment with design, GIS strategy, guidelines, principles, policies, and procedures.

• Provides advanced support (2nd and 3rd level) for end-user communication systems in accordance with GIS Service Level Agreements.

• Engages in personal performance management, emphasizing ongoing professional development and continuous learning.

• Aids in achieving departmental goals and responsibilities.

• Investigates, diagnoses, and resolves incidents collaboratively with colleagues and clients.

• Updates the incident tracking system per GIS processes, monitoring and communicating incident progress, and escalating as necessary.

• Regularly collaborates with internal customers and teams to understand their requirements and keeps them informed about project progress and findings.

• Ensures accurate and comprehensive documentation of processes and procedures to facilitate system support.

• Required to be on-call, with all such work governed by the on-call policy.

• Utilizes problem-solving techniques to identify root causes of issues with internal clients and contractors, determining appropriate actions for complex activities.

• Develops a thorough understanding of all Apotex policies, procedures, and standards related to their information technology area.

• Ensures that advice provided to internal clients and colleagues adheres to directives and is delivered professionally.

• Contributes to the development and revision of standard operating procedures.

• Proficient in the use of office automation tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

• Submits Status Reports, Expense Reports, and Employee Time Exception Forms promptly when required.

• Works safely and collaboratively as a team member to achieve all objectives.

Job Requirements

Education


• Degree in Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent work experience with vendor certifications.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Proven customer service orientation with familiarity in ITIL or similar service delivery/support models.

• Capable of configuring data and security networks, including routing/switching, troubleshooting, management reporting, traffic, firewalls, proxy, cloud security, fault and performance monitoring, Ethernet, and IP protocols.

• Experienced in the administration, installation, and implementation of data networking and network security devices.

Experience


• Proficient in understanding and analyzing end-user issues, troubleshooting in a timely manner.

• 4-6 years of experience or education in a validated and/or change-controlled environment.

• Experience in maintaining and administering Event Management and Network Reporting Tools, including BMC, Solarwinds, HP NNM, and Riverbed Cascade.

• Knowledge of all network security layers, including cloud-based systems (e.g., NexGen FW, Identity Service Access Control Systems, Proxy/Policy control systems).

• Understanding of video conferencing technologies, with the ability to troubleshoot, manage traffic, and ensure high quality of service.

• Assists in routine moves, adds, and changes (MACs) for voice and data equipment in coordination with logistics staff.

• Familiarity with voicemail systems, including administration, setup, and configuration (e.g., Call Pilot, Cisco Unity).

• Experience with scanning technologies (RF and fixed mount), including configuration, setup, programming, and troubleshooting.

• Knowledge of Avaya/Nortel CS100E, Cisco Call Manager, or equivalent PBX systems, including configuration, administration, troubleshooting, traffic management, and reporting (certification is an asset).

• Experience working with SIP, VOIP, Microsoft OCS, Microsoft Lync, and Cisco Unified Communication Systems.

• Knowledge of wireless (WIFI) technology administration, including cellular, two-way, and in-building systems.

• Experience in data/security/voice communication protocols and implementing networking and security technologies on a global scale.

• Responsible for email systems administration, including cloud-based email (e.g., O365).
