Job Title: International Business Consultant

Join the City of Toronto as an International Business Consultant and contribute to the growth and development of small businesses in the city.

About the Role:

This is a permanent, full-time position that requires a strong understanding of business development, economic growth, and entrepreneurship. As an International Business Consultant, you will work closely with small business owners to provide coaching and consultations on business planning, marketing, financing, and overall business strategies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide coaching and consultations to small business owners on business planning, marketing, financing, and overall business strategies.
  • Develop and deliver seminars, training programs, and special events to support small business growth.
  • Maintain a client database for statistical tracking and monitoring purposes.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local small business networks and business associations.
  • Assist the Manager of Small Business in designing innovative programs and enhancing existing ones to support and advance the needs of new entrepreneurs and small businesses.
  • Communicate with organizations, federal, provincial, and municipal agencies, and departments on matters pertaining to small business formation and growth.
  • Seek out and attend target community and business meetings and make presentations regarding small business services and opportunities.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education in business or a discipline pertinent to the job function.
  • Relevant experience in business development, economic growth, and entrepreneurship.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Technical knowledge of areas affecting business start-ups, including sales and marketing, cash flow management, financing, operations management, import/export, and staffing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Salesforce.
