Job Overview

QualificationsEducation
  • Completion of a trades certificate or diploma in horticulture or a related field

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and manage landscaping projects from start to finish
  • Assess and evaluate designated sites for landscaping potential
  • Water and care for plants, lawns, and gardens
  • Apply necessary treatments including fertilizers and pesticides
  • Direct teams responsible for maintaining golf courses and surrounding landscapes
  • Diagnose and treat tree and shrub diseases
  • Plan and coordinate plant growth for various landscaping purposes
  • Plant and maintain lawns and gardens for both private and public sectors
  • Transport materials and equipment as needed
Supervision

Supervise public works maintenance equipment operators as required.

Certifications
  • Horticulturist Trade Certification
  • International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) certification
  • Arboriculturists Trade Certification
  • Landscape Gardener Trade Certification
  • Landscape Architecture Technologist Certificate
  • Landscape Architecture Technician Certificate
  • Canadian Nursery Landscape Association (CNLA) certification
Experience Requirements
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in landscaping
