Investment Analyst, Sustainable Energy Sector

The Analyst will report directly to the Managing Director of the Listed Sustainable Energy Group (SEG) and will play a pivotal role in supporting the team in identifying, assessing, and analyzing public energy investment opportunities. This position encompasses a global mandate that includes both traditional and renewable energy sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough research and analysis on various potential listed energy investments.
- Gather and compile industry, market, and asset-level data along with financial metrics.
- Develop intricate financial models to evaluate investment opportunities, including assessing investment structures and specific assets through quantitative analytical tools.
- Assist in preparing and presenting materials for Investment Committee meetings and actively participate in discussions.
- Engage in the ongoing monitoring and management of the investment portfolio through formal reviews and informal discussions.
- Collect necessary data and financial information to aid in the management of the listed energy portfolio.
- Benchmark investment performance and create reports for senior management.
- Foster collaboration with teams involved in listed real assets, strategy, and private assets, emphasizing knowledge sharing and strong interdepartmental relationships.
- Work collaboratively with teams in credit, public equities, and other relevant business areas as needed.
- Exhibit a willingness to engage across various energy sectors, including power and renewables, energy midstream, commodities, alternative fuels, and distributed energy services.
- Perform other relevant tasks and projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Up to three years of pertinent experience in the energy and renewables field; experience in public energy or renewables is preferred.
- Relevant backgrounds may include asset management, valuation, investment banking, or equity research; strong accounting knowledge is advantageous.
- Experience in both developed and emerging markets is desirable.
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or economics – B.A., B.S., or equivalent.
- CPA, CFA, or CFA Candidate status is a plus.
- Strong quantitative, financial, and analytical skills, including DCF and financial modeling expertise.
- Familiarity with the listed energy sector, particularly key subsectors such as power and renewables, energy midstream, commodities, and alternative fuels.
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint), Bloomberg, Capital IQ, and other financial data platforms.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships.
- Multilingual abilities may be beneficial.
- Capacity to apply consistent investment judgment and focus on critical elements.
- A collaborative team player who thrives in a high-performance culture.
- Demonstrated adaptability, flexibility, and initiative.
- Willingness to travel as required.
- A strong desire to learn, express insights, and maintain an inquisitive mindset.
