Job Summary

The Rotman Research Institute at Baycrest is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of MEG System Manager. This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Magnetoencephalography (MEG) laboratory, ensuring the smooth functioning of the equipment and providing technical support to researchers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform daily maintenance tasks on the MEG equipment, including troubleshooting and repairing any issues that may arise.
  • System Performance: Conduct regular system performance tests to guarantee the operation of the MEG within its specifications.
  • User Support: Provide technical assistance to researchers in setting up experiments, operating the MEG equipment, and managing and analyzing research data.
  • Lab Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the MEG laboratory, including managing lab inventory, supplies, and scheduling.
  • Helium Management: Secure permanent cooling of the MEG system, including daily recording of helium boiloff and level, planning refill cycles, and performing helium transfer from storage tanks.
  • Data Management: Assist researchers in managing acquired data, such as data transfer, storage, and backup.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support to researchers in planning experimental setup and configuration of MEG recording.
Qualifications
  • Education: B.Sc. (M.Sc. preferred) in biomedical engineering or mechanical, electrical or physical engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Experience: Two to three years relevant professional experience in engineering technology, research laboratory or equivalent.
  • Skills: Proficiency in understanding IT management, operating systems and network administration; programming experience, preferably Matlab and Python; ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal.
