Team Overview:

The Core Services team at Mozilla is on the lookout for a Lead Software Engineer to enhance and sustain software platforms, services, and tools that empower our product engineering teams. The mission of Core Services is to enable customer teams utilizing our service infrastructure to concentrate more on fulfilling end-customer requirements while minimizing the time spent on shared software components essential for testing, delivering, and monitoring software applications. Key areas of focus for the Core Services team include observability, continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD), remote configuration, incident management, and technical review processes.

Role Responsibilities:

Define and construct a more cohesive developer experience at Mozilla, facilitating faster and easier product development. You will guide our developer experience towards a unified internal platform and spearhead the strategy for service ownership at Mozilla. Recognize common challenges faced by multiple teams and devise solutions to alleviate these issues. Current areas requiring attention include Observability and CI/CD domains. Develop a shared internal platform that provides product teams with tools to enhance their efficiency and productivity. Transition teams from a reactive operational model to a strategic, proactive approach. Mentor junior engineers, fostering their growth and enabling them to take ownership of more complex projects.

Required Qualifications:

A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in software development. Extensive experience in service ownership, including the building, deployment, and support of services throughout their lifecycle. Proven ability to identify, prioritize, and address cross-cutting challenges impacting the organization, collaborating across multiple teams to devise optimal strategies and deliver solutions. Demonstrated leadership capabilities across teams, showcasing a high degree of collaboration, adaptability, and respect for diverse perspectives. Strong analytical skills and the ability to convey complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Capacity to influence roadmaps and execution within partnered teams. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with experience effectively participating in a distributed team environment.
