The position of a Lead Aquatic Instructor involves providing specialized training and mentorship to the swim instruction team, playing a vital role in the advancement and effectiveness of The Aqua Life Swim Academy's aquatic programs.
Lead Aquatic Instructors are responsible for ensuring the provision of exceptional swim education, emphasizing water safety, and fostering the professional growth of the instructional staff, thereby enhancing the overall swimming experience for all participants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver swimming lessons tailored for individuals of varying ages and skill levels, showcasing correct swimming techniques, strokes, and safety measures. Offer constructive criticism and encouragement to assist students in enhancing their swimming capabilities.
- Support the onboarding and training of new swim instructors, guiding them through lesson structures, safety regulations, and pedagogical strategies. Act as a mentor and resource to facilitate a smooth transition for new team members.
- Provide mentorship to the swim instructor team, sharing your extensive knowledge of aquatic education and offering guidance and support.
- Maintain a secure swimming environment by exercising constant vigilance and enforcing established water safety protocols.
- Promote a positive and inclusive atmosphere among the swim instructor team, fostering collaboration, mutual encouragement, and a shared enthusiasm for teaching.
- Monitor student progress, deliver constructive feedback, and celebrate achievements as they acquire new swimming skills.
- Step in as a substitute instructor when necessary.
Qualifications:
- Current National Lifeguard Service (NLS) and Standard First Aid + CPR-C certifications.
- Preferred: Lifesaving Swim Instructor Certification.
- Significant experience as a swim instructor, with a minimum of 3-5 years of teaching experience, demonstrating a successful history of effective instruction and a comprehensive understanding of swimming techniques, strokes, and safety protocols.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the capability to effectively mentor, coach, and guide new instructors. Leadership qualities to inspire and motivate teams towards delivering high-quality instruction.
- A professional demeanor with a positive outlook and the ability to manage challenging situations with composure and responsibility.
Job Type: Part-time
Compensation: $20.00 per hour
Expected Hours: 8 hours per week
Experience Required:
- Swim Instruction: 3 years (preferred).
Licenses/Certifications Required:
- Lifesaving Swim Instructor Certificate (preferred).
- National Lifeguard Certificate (required).
- Standard First Aid & CPR-C (required).
Work Location: In-person.
