The Provincial Health Services Authority is dedicated to decreasing cancer incidence, lowering mortality rates associated with cancer, and enhancing the quality of life for individuals affected by cancer. Our organization offers a comprehensive cancer care program in collaboration with regional health authorities, delivering a variety of cancer services that encompass prevention, screening, early detection, diagnosis, treatment, research, education, supportive care, rehabilitation, and palliative care.

Our facilities provide a complete array of services in Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Palliative Care, and additional support services such as Nutrition, Clinical Trials, and Patient and Family Counseling. We work closely with a network of community centers to ensure that patients can access systemic therapy within their local environments.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must be eligible for licensure in British Columbia and possess Canadian certification (FRCP, FRCS, or CCFP) at the time of appointment. Additionally, suitability for appointment to the University of British Columbia is required. The department is committed to supporting the successful candidate in acquiring the necessary expertise for the role. Common responsibilities include symptom management for patients undergoing active treatment and conducting follow-up assessments.

  • A strong commitment to fostering meaningful reconciliation in Canada, aligned with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
  • An understanding of the social, economic, political, and historical factors affecting Indigenous communities, along with familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism initiatives.
