Teaching Opportunity at Ernest C. Drury School for the Deaf

We are seeking a qualified teacher to join our team at Ernest C. Drury School for the Deaf in Milton. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Deaf students in a secondary program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach Deaf students in a secondary program
  • Develop and implement lesson plans to meet the needs of Deaf students
  • Modify lesson plans to accommodate students with multiple exceptionalities
  • Create Individual Education Plans (IEPs) to effectively teach Deaf students
  • Manage a classroom and students using various behavioral management strategies
  • Work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to support students with multiple exceptionalities
Requirements:
  • Valid Certificate of Registration and Qualifications from the Ontario College of Teachers
  • Deaf Specialist/Teaching Students Who Are Deaf or Hard of Hearing qualification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Intermediate/Senior Division qualifications required
  • Senior Sciences, Math, or English qualifications preferred
  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred (or willingness to obtain)
