Job Title: Court Liaison Officer

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong communication and interpersonal skills. As a Court Liaison Officer, you will be the primary point of contact between the RCMP, Crown Counsel, and other stakeholders in the criminal justice system.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Attend regular court user meetings to discuss and develop policies and resolve issues.
  • Liaise with City cells, Sheriffs, and Crown Counsel to ensure prisoners are transported to court in a timely manner.
  • Review Reports to Crown Counsel submitted by RCMP members to ensure legality, accuracy, and promptness.
  • Maintain a diary date system to ensure all court files are reviewed once submitted to Crown Counsel.
  • Ensure dispositions are completed, fingerprints are forwarded to Ottawa for registration of criminal convictions, and CPIC entries are valid.
Requirements:
  • Law enforcement background and/or extensive experience in a policing environment.
  • Sound knowledge of the Criminal Code of Canada, Youth Criminal Justice Act, Federal, Provincial, and Municipal Statutes.
  • Operational experience in JUSTIN, PIRS, PRIME, CPIC, OSR, and UCR.
  • Ability to work in an adversarial climate with both internal and external clients.
  • Must obtain and maintain a RCMP security clearance and BC Provincial Special Constable Appointment.
