We are seeking a skilled Carpenter to join our team at Crosswood Construction. As a Carpenter, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to building construction and renovation.
Key Responsibilities- Estimating and Planning: Prepare detailed estimates of labour and material costs for construction projects.
- Site Preparation: Read blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine work requirements and prepare layouts in conformance to building codes.
- Construction and Installation: Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, and other materials to build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems.
- Finishing Touches: Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware to complete construction projects.
- Project Management: Schedule and coordinate work on sites, survey building locations and levels, and supervise other workers to ensure projects are completed on time and to a high standard.
- Maintenance and Repair: Maintain, repair, and renovate residences and wooden structures in various settings, including mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants, and other establishments.
- Accessibility Accommodations: Provide physical, visual, and auditory accessibility accommodations to create a welcoming work environment for employees with disabilities.
- Indigenous and Visible Minority Support: Participate in government or community programs that support Indigenous people and visible minorities, and provide mentorship, coaching, and networking opportunities to promote diversity and inclusion.
- Newcomer and Refugee Support: Assist with immediate settlement needs of newcomers and refugees, and support their social and labour market integration through language training, skills training, and other initiatives.
- Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
- Experience: 1 to less than 7 months of experience in a related field.
- Language: English language proficiency.
