We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Business Analyst to join our CTR Strategic Initiatives team at Canadian Tire Corporation. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in providing analytical support for our General Merchandising strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Enable high-impact strategic projects by providing end-to-end support to clients, including defining analysis scope, gathering relevant data, executing analyses, and presenting concise and relevant insights.
- Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, and abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding.
- Act as an impartial consultant to business users by leading discussions with business clients and other team members to confidently and accurately present relevant information and to determine/clarify business rules or other considerations that will impact future-state analytical solutions.
- Develop options and present recommendations to various stakeholders within the organization to drive and support change in a continuously evolving retail environment.
- Take complex data points and simplify with effective and representative visualizations (charts, tables, graphs, slides) to provide analytical insights and recommendations, to influence business clients.
- Lead regular deep dives of sales performance by customer, product, brands, store network, and other relevant factors to establish key insights.
- Design, plan, and build data pipelines (data wrangling / preparation / ETL), data modeling and analytical/statistical workflows, data visualizations, and reporting/dashboarding tools to support and conduct comprehensive analyses.
- Identify inefficiencies in current processes and strive for continuous improvement through changes to modelling approaches and/or automation.
- Post-secondary degree in Business, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or related field.
- 4+ years of experience in an analytical role.
- Knowledge and experience in data preparation, data analysis, and statistical tool sets including but not limited to SQL, Power BI, Python, Knime and Excel.
- Experience with Snowflake, Azure Synapse Analytics an asset.
- Intermediate knowledge of Python and its standard libraries such as Pandas and Numpy; motivated to advance your Python skillset.
- Intermediate knowledge of SQL and best practices.
- Experience interacting with multiple on-Premises and cloud-based Data Lakes and Warehouses and using analytical platforms / tools to perform data wrangling and Big Data analytics an asset.
- Experience working with large and complex datasets efficiently and a passion for digging into quantitative and qualitative data.
- Excellent attention to detail, a structured approach to analysis and the ability to develop logical arguments.
- See the bigger picture of the problem you are trying to solve and will proactively seek new data points from varied sources (external and internal) to complement your analysis.
- Recognized for your curiosity and growth mindset.
- Superb verbal & written communication skills with application in influencing technical and non-technical clients with data.
- Understanding and interest in advanced analytics concepts including machine learning is an asset.
