Coastal Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Intermediate Coastal Engineer to join our team at W.F. Baird & Associates Coastal Engineers Ltd. (Baird). As a key member of our coastal engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and analyzing coastal and marine structures, as well as managing projects from conception to completion.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and evaluate technical documents, including proposals and reports, to ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Collaborate with technical staff to effectively utilize coastal resources and ensure project success.
- Write and coordinate winning proposals to attract new clients and retain existing ones.
- Analyze and design marine and coastal structures, particularly on the Great Lakes and northern Canada, requiring a strong technical background in marine and coastal design.
- Manage projects, including planning, monitoring, and controlling project scope, budgets, deliverables, and schedules.
- Provide construction services, including construction management and observation, to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Master's degree in Civil, Coastal, Marine Civil, or Environmental Engineering.
- A minimum of ten years of coastal engineering experience in a consulting or contractor role, with a focus on analysis and design.
- Strong interest in analysis, design, and implementation related to coastal, port infrastructure, ecosystem restoration, navigation and dredging, metocean, and ocean renewable energy.
- Experience with the above-mentioned marine or coastal engineering elements.
- A minimum of seven years' experience managing projects.
- Experience developing construction documents, including drawing sets, specifications, and cost estimating.
- Willingness to travel for domestic and international projects, with occasional extended travel for construction supervision.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
- Technical experience focused on coastal protection and defense structures, coastal erosion, and land stabilization, metocean, dredging and reclamation, coastal planning, and management.
- Construction management experience related to marine or coastal projects.
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
