Position Overview

Under the general oversight of the Diagnostic Imaging (DI) Operations Manager, the Diagnostic Imaging Clerk plays a vital role in ensuring efficient scheduling and management of diagnostic imaging procedures. This position is integral to upholding the Mission, Values, and Management Philosophy of Shared Health.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive and process requisitions for diagnostic imaging examinations utilizing the Radiology Information System (RIS).
  • Act as the primary point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service.
  • Collect, input, and maintain accurate patient and imaging information in the computer system.
  • Retrieve and manage digital images, including filing and distributing films, CDs, and DVDs as required.
  • Facilitate the transfer of digital images and reports to various healthcare facilities upon request.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned to support the operational needs of the department.

Experience

  • Prior experience with PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) is considered an asset.

Education

  • Completion of Grade 12 or an equivalent qualification.
  • Successful completion of a recognized Medical Administrative Assistant Program, Medical Secretary Program, or the first year of a recognized nursing diploma/degree.
  • Alternatively, completion of a recognized medical terminology course along with one year of experience in a Patient Registration department or related field.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum keyboard speed of 35 words per minute.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and understanding English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with others.
  • Professional telephone etiquette.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Capacity to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Adaptability to high-pressure situations.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in work.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be physically capable of assisting patients in wheelchairs.
