Job Title: Nursing Education Coordinator II

Join our team as a Nursing Education Coordinator II, where you will play a vital role in promoting quality evidence-based nursing practice through education and professional development of Internationally Educated Nurses.

Job Summary:

This temporary full-time position, approximately 6 months, is located at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor. As a Nursing Education Coordinator II, you will be responsible for mentoring IENs with client assessments, developing and implementing orientation and professional development programs, and providing visible clinical and professional leadership.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide education support to nurses by responding to identified learning needs based on clinical best practice, professional standards, and performance deficits.
  • Plan, develop, deliver, and evaluate educational programming to help prepare staff for implementation of nursing models, programs, and clinical practices.
  • Maintain professional standards of practice respecting the needs of the adult learner, through the demonstration of effective clinical, teaching, and leadership skills.
  • Work collaboratively with managers, leaders, departments, and professional groups to facilitate successful navigation through the change process.
  • Foster an environment that utilizes effective strategies to integrate research into clinical practice.
  • Provide consultative services to internal and external partners to enhance professional practice.
  • Provide orientation to staff as required.
  • Deliver a variety of education programs.
  • Promote an environment of excellence and continuous improvement in support of a quality culture.
  • Develop nursing self-learning practices utilizing evidence-based practices.
  • Travel will be required.
Requirements:
  • Undergraduate degree in nursing, or willingness to complete.
  • Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador.
  • Minimum of Five (5) years clinical experience in acute care, medical, or surgical nursing experience.
  • Current BLS certification for health care providers from the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
  • Demonstrated consistent professional approach, commitment to the organizational values, and displays those values in all components of work.
  • Strong leadership ability, knowledge of the principles of adult learning, staff development, and performance reviews.
  • Ability to manage conflict, understanding of lean improvement methodologies, and understanding of the evaluation process and the QI process.
  • Commitment to personal continuing education, ability to work with computers, including the Meditech system, and superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Interpersonal and facilitation skills, ability to prepare and present educational material in an effective, concise manner, and ability to develop comprehensive learning needs assessment of clients and staff.
  • Knowledge of current nursing research and practice standards.
  • Consistent demonstration of Central Zone's corporate values; Innovation, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Excellence (I CARE).
  • A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
  • A satisfactory certificate of conduct from the local police authority.

  • Conflict resolution training.

  • Lean green belt training.
  • LEADS training.
Working Conditions:

75 hours bi-weekly (Shift work may be required)
