We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tunnel Foreman to join our team at Aecon Infrastructure Management Inc. As a key member of our tunneling operations, you will be responsible for leading and supervising work crews, ensuring the safe and efficient execution of tunneling projects.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and Supervise Work Crews: Drive quality, efficiency, and productivity of work crews, and document reporting of and maintaining in good repair all company-owned and rented tools, equipment, and assets.
- Schedule and Coordinate Work: Schedule, coordinate, and supervise the work of all site operatives, ensuring that all work is delivered safely on time and within budget, along with managing equipment and materials required.
- Record and Communicate Hours Worked: Accurately record and communicate the hours worked and operational issues.
- Operate and Promote Safe Working: Operate and promote safe working on site, ensuring all works are carried out in line with approved method statements.
- Conduct Risk Assessments: Conduct and amend risk assessments and deliver toolbox talks/briefings.
- Ensure Site Personnel Training: Ensure site personnel have job-relevant training requirements, which is entered on site personnel training register.
- Lead by Example: Lead by example to others on site.
- Ensure Workers Complete Documentation: Ensure workers complete all required documentation.
- Track and Document Daily Work Productions: Track and document daily work productions.
- Equipment and Materials Management: Manage equipment and materials.
- Assist TBM Superintendent: Assist the TBM Superintendent in promoting communication throughout the tunnel team.
- Supervise TBM Operators: Supervise TBM operators who maintain the line and grade of the tunnel according to the tunnelling guidance system.
- Ensure TBM Operators Maintain Parameters: Ensure TBM operators maintain the designed parameters of the TBM, face pressures, and operate within manufacturers' guidelines and approved methods.
- Supervise Erector Operator: Supervise the erector operator who will erect segmental lining according to the building tolerance specified in the contract.
- Implement Annular Grouting Procedure: Implement the annular grouting procedure behind the segmental lining. Secondary grouting as required.
- Education: Secondary School or equivalent; practical training, classroom, or simulation; and working knowledge of English.
- Work Experience: Familiarity with OSHA and aware of the meaning of 'Supervisor' under OSHA; MOL's required basic supervisory safety awareness training; 2-3 years experience with Tunnel Boring Machine operations; 2-3 years experience with Slurry TBM; 2-3 years experience in tunneling with concrete segment lining, 6.0 m. diameter; and 2-3 years' experience with Herrenknecht equipment.
- Hourly Rate: $53 per hour. Shift workers will receive a shift premium in addition to their regular hourly rate. Employees/Tunnel Foremen will be required to become members of Labourers International Union of North America, Local 183. (Monthly Membership Dues are $35.00 and Working Dues are 3% of Gross earnings)
- Hours of Work: 37.5 hours/week and subject to overtime
- Total Wage Package: Employees/Members of Local 183 receive Vacation & Statutory Holiday Pay, Health & Welfare Benefits, Pension, etc. for a Total Wage Package of $76.55 per hour (not including Supervisor Premium)
