Job Summary

The Health Sciences Centre is seeking a skilled and compassionate Healthcare Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide essential support to patients and staff, ensuring a high level of care and comfort in our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist patients with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming, under the supervision of licensed healthcare professionals.
  • Provide basic supportive care, including feeding, toileting, and transferring patients, as directed.
  • Participate in the maintenance of a clean and safe environment, adhering to infection control and safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure seamless care delivery and effective communication.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with patients, families, and colleagues, promoting a culture of respect and empathy.
Requirements
  • Previous patient care experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Successful completion of a recognized Health Care Aide course is mandatory.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time, and maintain a high level of productivity.
  • Physical stamina to perform tasks that require standing, walking, and lifting, as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Competency in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge of Indigenous customs, traditions, and values is an asset.
  • Previous experience working in a healthcare setting, particularly in a unit assistant or healthcare aide role.
