Arts Education Instructor

Position Overview
The City of Ottawa is seeking dynamic individuals to contribute to our Community Recreation & Cultural Programs. Our mission is to cultivate an inclusive, vibrant, and culturally rich community. This role involves the delivery of engaging arts education programs that inspire creativity among participants.
Role Responsibilities
- Design and implement instructional programs in various artistic disciplines, including theatre, dance, music, visual arts, literature, and multimedia.
- Evaluate and assess the progress of participants in creative arts programs.
- Foster a supportive and encouraging environment for learners of all ages.
Qualifications
- A minimum of two years of post-secondary education in Fine Arts, Art History, or Education related to the arts.
- At least three years of practical experience in teaching or practicing in a relevant arts field.
Certifications
- Current Standard First Aid, CPR, and/or AED certifications.
- Completion of AODA Customer Service/IASR Training and High Five training courses.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong understanding of health and safety regulations applicable to arts instruction.
- Experience working with diverse age groups in an educational setting.
- Proficient in interpretive techniques and handling of artistic materials.
- Knowledge of registration processes and visitor management.
Competencies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to inspire enthusiasm and creativity in participants.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to adapt to changing environments.
- Demonstrated leadership and initiative in program development.
Additional Information
- Language proficiency may be required in English, French, or both, depending on the location.
- Successful candidates will undergo a Vulnerable Sector Check.
