Location: Sechelt Child Care Center

Terms: Permanent, Full-Time: 35 hours/week

Shift: Monday to Friday, with rotating shifts between 8:00AM – 5:00PM

Salary: $28.18 per hour + Benefits (plus $6/hour for Licensed ECE's as per the ECE Wage Enhancement Initiative)

Reports To: Manager, Early Childhood & Family Development

Nature & Scope: The Team Lead 2 will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations and delivery of childcare services within the early childhood program, ensuring high-quality care and engaging programming for children in a group environment.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct supervision and leadership to a team of Early Childhood Educators, staff members, and volunteers, adhering to YMCA guidelines and CCFL licensing standards.
  • Lead the team in delivering high-quality, age-appropriate programs based on the YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum.
  • Facilitate the planning and execution of a consistent, child-centered program in alignment with YMCA standards.
  • Complete administrative tasks accurately and within set timelines, including staff scheduling, incident reports, and inventory management.
  • Maintain and enhance enrollment at approved capacities.
  • Establish and sustain positive daily communication with families, ensuring quality customer service and fostering meaningful relationships.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with staff, volunteers, and key community stakeholders.
  • Work with center staff and volunteers to uphold a well-organized, safe, and clean environment across all activity and program areas.
  • Exemplify professional appearance and conduct, maintaining those standards among the staff team.
  • Engage directly with children, providing quality care and creative programming.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and supervision standards as per licensing and YMCA requirements.
  • Release children only to authorized individuals, verifying identification as necessary.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding all information related to the center, children, families, and staff.
  • Participate in all YMCA Playing to Learn professional development sessions and other scheduled training.
  • Understand and adhere to all YMCA, Child Care Facility Licensing (CCFL), and legal requirements, including YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum standards.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • BC Early Childhood Educator License to Practice required
  • BC Infant/Toddler Educator License to Practice is preferred
  • Special Needs License to Practice is preferred
  • One to three years of supervisory experience
  • Strong organizational and customer service skills
  • Diplomas, certificates, or other evidence of training related to child growth and development
  • Experience working with children in a childcare or recreational setting
  • Current First Aid certificate
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date.
