Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the design, development, implementation, and field validation of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) based control systems.
  • Interpret customer requirements and convert them into technical specifications.
  • Construct control system architecture, incorporating actuators, motors, sensors, and communication protocols.
  • Select, configure, and program PLCs, motor drives, and associated control system hardware.
  • Create and maintain control system design software using industry-standard programming languages.
  • Test, validate, and document electrical and control systems to meet technical specifications.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and control system challenges, both in laboratory settings and in the field.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, electrical, and software engineers.
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive control system documentation, including schematics, data ICDs, ladder diagrams, and functional specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and industry best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience as a Controls Engineer, emphasizing industrial digital communication protocols and machine control applications.
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing, developing, and implementing robust control systems.
  • Strong grasp of electrical principles and power systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of PLC programming design, languages, and control system hardware.
  • Experience in commissioning control systems and troubleshooting I/O.
  • Proficient in documentation, with strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Experience with cybersecurity is an asset.

Security Requirements
