Senior Veterinary Technologist

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Registered Veterinary Technologist to join our team at the BC SPCA. As a key member of our veterinary team, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians in all aspects of patient care, including examinations, laboratory duties, and treatments.
- Conduct triage and coordinate patient care with other staff members.
- Administer medications, perform treatments, and collect specimens as required.
- Perform diagnostic and medical procedures, including radiography, ultrasonography, and electrocardiography.
- Monitor patient vital signs, inputs, and outputs, and provide care as needed.
- Assist with surgeries, sedation, and anesthesia.
- Provide direct communication to clients, including educating them on care and treatment.
- Manage medical records, maintain equipment, and perform housekeeping duties.
- Train, mentor, and provide guidance to junior staff members.
Requirements:
- Successful completion of a veterinary technologist program accredited by the CVMA and registration with the BCVTA.
- A minimum of five years' experience as an RVT or equivalent, with demonstrated proficiency in all areas of RVT practice.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and complete tasks/projects within defined timelines.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Able to fulfill physical demands of the job, including standing for long periods, walking, sitting, and lifting heavy objects and patients.
- Understanding of the risks associated with working with animals and an ability to follow safety requirements and other precautions.
