About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Concept Artist to join our team at Electronic Arts. As a Concept Artist, you will play a critical role in bringing our game worlds to life by creating original and imaginative concepts that fit within our project style guide.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Art Director, Character Artists, and Environment Artists to develop a cast of believable characters and immersive game environments.
  • Design and develop original concepts that meet the project's artistic vision and style guide.
  • Translate high-level ideas into production-ready art packets, ensuring that all concepts are well-researched and thoroughly explored.
  • Maintain the art direction while providing a variety of ideas and explorations, ensuring that the final product is cohesive and engaging.
  • Provide in-depth research, reference material, and conceptual ideas to support the development of our game worlds.
  • Develop lighting schemes and color palettes that capture the tone and atmosphere of our game worlds.
  • Report to the Art Director and contribute to the overall success of the project.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience as a Concept Artist, with at least 3 years in the gaming industry.
  • Shipped video game titles with a strong portfolio of concept art.
  • Ability to create concepts from scratch and develop color studies that meet the project's artistic vision.
  • Experience with creating concepts and explorations at different quality outputs, from sketches to final key art.
  • Strong traditional illustration skills in multiple media, including drawing, painting, and matte painting.
  • Fundamental skills including good use of line, light, shadow, and color.
  • Experience with storytelling and concept development, with a strong understanding of game world design.
  • Ability to work with specific styles, including a style set by another artist or art director, and mentor other concept artists.
