Anesthesia Assistant

The successful candidate will assist the anesthesiologist in patient evaluation and treatment, as well as patient education. They will be responsible for assisting with ventilation setup and management, maintaining vital functions, invasive and non-invasive monitoring, and respiratory assistance in the operating room or other areas of the facility where anesthesia services may be required. The candidate must be able to report to work within 20 minutes during reserve and recall shifts. They will also be responsible for other tasks as needed by the department.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the anesthesiologist in patient evaluation and treatment
- Assist with patient education
- Assist with ventilation setup and management
- Maintain vital functions
- Conduct invasive and non-invasive monitoring
- Provide respiratory assistance in the operating room or other areas of the facility
- Report to work within 20 minutes during reserve and recall shifts
- Perform other tasks as needed by the department
- Diploma from a recognized program for anesthesia assistants or obtained after entry into the position
- Member of the New Brunswick Association of Respiratory Therapists (ATRNB)
- Certificate in SIR (immediate care in resuscitation) and maintain certification
- Recognized skills in developing a treatment plan and therapy in collaboration with the patient, their family, and the interdisciplinary team
- Recognized skills in organizing and managing assigned workload
- Recognized skills in working in a changing work environment
- Recognized skills in communication and interpersonal relationships with healthcare staff
- Practical knowledge in computer systems
- Sustained interest in deepening knowledge
- Ability to work in a team and independently
- Physical ability to perform assigned tasks
- Good work history (productivity and attendance)
- Adherence to professional ethics, Vitalité Health Network's management philosophy, and organizational values
- Respect for Vitalité Health Network's confidentiality rules
