Position Overview:
We are looking for a dedicated and meticulous Pharmacy Technician to contribute to our operations. The Pharmacy Technician will be instrumental in assisting pharmacists with medication distribution, managing inventory, and ensuring top-notch customer service. The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational abilities, a strong focus on precision, and the capacity to thrive in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily exchanges of medication carts for hospitalized patients.
- Oversee the inventory of Automated Dispensing Cabinets.
- Monitor expiration dates and ensure the proper disposal, destruction, or return of expired products in accordance with pharmacy regulations and manufacturer guidelines.
- Prepare packaged medications, including controlled substances.
- Maintain the supply of Emergency Medication trays.
- Track inventory levels, initiate procurement processes in a timely manner, and comply with relevant legislation and contractual obligations.
- Assess appropriate purchase quantities based on inventory management principles and available storage capacity.
- Receive and confirm shipments, follow up on back orders, and resolve any outstanding issues.
- Conduct thorough medication histories with patients to support medication reconciliation.
- Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Assistant or Technician Program is required.
- Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the relevant regulatory body.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
- 2-3 years of experience in a pharmacy setting.
- Familiarity with Windows Operating System, Microsoft Office Suite, and pharmacy software systems is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical handling techniques.
- Proficient in pharmaceutical calculations.
- Knowledge of computerized inventory management and control procedures.
- Consistent employment and attendance record is essential.
