Job SummaryWe are seeking a Registered Pharmacy Technician to join our team in Waterloo. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Pharmacy Manager in the day-to-day management of workload, collaborating with pharmacists and pharmacy assistants to fulfill prescription orders, and performing independent double checks for repeat prescription release.
Key Responsibilities- Assist Pharmacy Manager in the day-to-day management of workload
- Collaborate with Pharmacists and Pharmacy Assistants to fulfill prescription orders
- Perform an independent double check for repeat prescription release
- Verify that the customer receives correct prescription(s)
- Identify potential therapeutic issues and seek the Pharmacist's therapeutic check
- Work collaboratively with Rx Connect Specialty Pharmacy Patient Programs in fulfilling pharmacy responsibilities
- Prepare/review and process billings, claims, disbursements, and related documents
- Assist patients who are picking up prescriptions
- Enter prescriptions into the computer; retrieve and/or correct data in computer
- Screen calls and gather relevant information for Pharmacist
- Order, maintain, and prepare inventory of medications
- Review invoices or other documentation
- Pack and ship prescription orders
- Receive and maintain accurate inventory
- Communicate with patients, prescribers, healthcare professionals, and other key players to support patients through their treatment journey
- Verify and investigate insurance coverage and benefits for patients, including eligibility, co-payments, deductibles, and prior authorizations
- Gather and document information from patients/caregivers/prescribers in a concise, organized, and professional manner
- Complete, submit, and follow-up on requisite paperwork in a timely manner
- Liaise with private and public insurance providers to determine coverage options
- Act as a central liaison for stakeholders such as physicians, nurses, patients, and clinics and provide required updates
- Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT) with the Ontario College of Pharmacists
- Two or more years of related pharmacy experience
- Proficiency in Kroll
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Organized with the ability to multi-task and maintain accuracy
- Excellent knowledge of pharmacy operations
- Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Excellent time management skills
- Bilingualism, French/English is an asset
