Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our Surface Operations team at Newcrest Mining. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for upholding our Fatality Risk management policy and working alongside department leadership to prepare feasibility studies, manage risks, and execute projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Management: Prepare feasibility studies, risk management plans, budgets, and schedules for surface operations projects.
  • Project Monitoring: Provide regular reports on project safety, scope completion, budget expenditure, and quality control.
  • Lessons Learned: Conduct close-out reviews and identify lessons learned to be applied to future projects.
  • Vendor Management: Source vendors, perform cost analysis, and support commercial review of bids for site projects.
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct research, collect and analyze data, and recommend improvements for bridge building, equipment replacements, and glacier access ramps.
  • Reporting and Reconciliation: Complete project and operational year-end actuals vs target reconciliations.
  • Team Support: Support site initiatives and goals, and work with engineers-in-training to develop their skills.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field, and 3+ years of experience in project management and surface operations.
  • Skills and Knowledge: Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Suite, project controls software, and experience with Deswik, RoadEng, and Drone Survey Modelling.
  • Personal Qualities: Strong demonstrated knowledge of engineering best practices, valid class 5 driver's license, and ability to pass a pre-employment medical screening.
