About Our Opportunity

In the role of Capital Asset Program Analyst, you will act as a financial consultant for the Capital Infrastructure Program overseen by the Department of Public Works.

Your main responsibilities will encompass offering financial counsel, analysis, and assistance to senior leadership, capital program personnel, client departments, and educational boards concerning all financial dimensions related to capital expenditures. You will be tasked with overseeing capital approvals and commitments while adhering to legislative and audit standards.

You will work in close collaboration with the Director/Executive Director of Finance, providing support and analysis to Program Directors and the Deputy Minister's office as necessary.

Reporting to the Manager of Capital Projects, your duties will include:

  • Tracking and managing expenses and cash flow for various capital initiatives
  • Projecting expenditures in relation to the annual capital budget and advising senior management on necessary actions
  • Creating strategies to enhance the financial standing of the Department of Public Works concerning the Capital Infrastructure Program
  • Acting as the primary contact for financial inquiries related to capital projects

Qualifications and Experience

We seek candidates with a bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of pertinent experience. An accounting designation (CPA) is preferred but not mandatory.

Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB) is crucial. Strong communication abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and experience in aligning financial decisions with long-term capital strategies are essential for this position.

Additional assets for this role include current enrollment in a recognized program (CPA) and proficiency in specific financial software.
