Work Environment

The role involves working in a noisy environment, typical of a mechanical workshop.

Key Responsibilities
  • Instruct and mentor apprentices in the trade.
  • Conduct thorough troubleshooting and inspections of equipment to identify faults and malfunctions.

  • Make necessary adjustments and perform repairs or replacements of defective components.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.

  • Execute repair work on heavy trucks and service attachments and tools.

Qualifications
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License (Class 3 or D).
  • Truck and Coach Service Licence (310T) is required.
  • Commercial Vehicle Inspection Certificate is essential.

  • Expertise in fuel injection, exhaust, cooling, air conditioning, lubrication, and engine control systems.
  • Ability to perform major internal engine repairs or overhauls.
  • Skilled in the installation and alignment of engines and machinery.
Mechanical Maintenance and Repair
  • Proficient in mechanical transmissions, drive trains, hydraulic systems, and vehicle suspension.
  • Knowledgeable in highway vehicle tires, wheels, differentials, and brake systems.
