About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional VP of Engineering to lead our engineering team at Affinity. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for driving the technical vision and strategy of our platform, ensuring the delivery of high-quality products that meet the needs of our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and leadership to the engineering team, ensuring that they have the necessary skills and resources to deliver high-quality products.
  • Product Vision: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute the technical vision for our platform, ensuring that it aligns with the company's overall strategy.
  • Team Management: Lead and manage a team of engineers, providing coaching, mentoring, and development opportunities to help them grow and succeed in their careers.
  • Technical Strategy: Develop and execute a technical strategy that aligns with the company's business goals, ensuring that we are leveraging the latest technologies and best practices to deliver high-quality products.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including product, design, and sales, to ensure that our products meet the needs of our customers and align with the company's overall strategy.

Requirements:

  • 13+ years of experience building scalable web applications with large volumes of data and rich visualizations.
  • 8+ years in an engineering leadership role, at least at one point overseeing organizations of 60 or more, with experience in managing multiple teams through managers and team leads (growing managers of managers, ideally directors).
  • Experience developing, coaching and managing engineering leaders, such as Engineering Directors, Engineering Managers and Staff Engineers.
  • Care personally about the people you work with, and about helping them to grow and develop in their careers, while also challenging them when necessary.
  • Experience recruiting and closing engineering candidates.
  • Passion for designing, evolving, and optimizing the development process, ideally leveraging practices such as Kanban to help developers maintain a seamless workflow.
  • Balance thoughtfully between short-term business priorities and long-term investment and strategy.
  • Take pride in delivering an exceptionally high-quality product, ensuring outstanding functionality, while maintaining the platform's overall performance and reliability.
  • You're excited to work collaboratively within engineering and across functional teams.
  • Articulate, confident, and persuasive communication skills, coupled with the ability to listen and prioritize diverse perspectives.

  • A competitive salary range of $245,000 to $300,000 CAD.
