Purpose:

As a vital member of the store management team, the Retail Operations Assistant Manager aids the Store Manager in achieving all operational, business, and personnel objectives for the store. This role involves overseeing daily store operations and ensuring adherence to all company policies and applicable legislation.

Key Responsibilities:

Support the Store Manager in managing daily store operations through specific divisional responsibilities (Sales or Operations) to meet key performance indicators and profit expectations. Communicate and embody the Brand values, attitude, and culture. Ensure consistent execution of corporate programs, initiatives, and strategies. Collaborate with the Store Manager to implement programs, policies, and specific store needs effectively. Assist in developing effective succession, recruitment, hiring, and training plans to reduce turnover. Evaluate staff performance and provide constructive feedback, fostering a team environment to achieve store and company goals. Work alongside the Store Manager to create clear action plans for the store, striving to meet objectives, deliverables, and timelines. Take accountability for training and executing in-store operations across all areas, including business, operations, sales/customer service, and visual merchandising, ensuring all employees are well-versed in Retail Standards. Ensure timely completion of all recordkeeping related to applicants, new hires, payroll, performance evaluations, salary reviews, counseling, disciplinary actions, and employee separations. Deliver results under various market conditions and navigate barriers to the company's success while adhering to corporate guidelines. Regularly assess competition to maintain market competitiveness. Collaborate closely with the Store Manager to optimize inventory levels and product selections to enhance sales. Assist the Store Manager in managing wage costs and overall expense control within established guidelines, communicating these goals with the retail management team. Ensure accuracy in cash management and minimize shrinkage within the store. Take responsibility for store and product security, utilizing provided systems and monitoring their effectiveness in preventing theft. Ensure compliance with company policies regarding NSB (POS system) integrity and maintain confidentiality of retail operating information. Adhere to government legislation concerning employment standards and health and safety in the overall management of the store and its associates. Maintain a safe, organized, and clean store environment in accordance with adidas and legal standards. Foster seamless communication with other retail store managers. Follow all visual merchandising guidelines. Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager and District Manager.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

Strong retail knowledge, including operational and sales skills. Proficient in retail business management (fiscal and operational). Skilled in coaching and talent management. Ability to prioritize and allocate resources effectively. Proficient in reading and communicating effectively. Capable of presenting information and responding to inquiries from employees, customers, and the public. Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations. Strong problem-solving skills, including data collection and analysis. Effective communication through various channels. Excellent computer skills (MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and quick adaptability to new systems. Physical requirements include regular talking or hearing, frequent standing, walking, and using hands, with occasional lifting of up to 25 kg. Flexibility to work varied schedules, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, with the ability to work extra hours during peak sales periods. Understanding of in-store retail operations and cash procedures. Knowledge of relevant government legislation applicable to retail.

Qualifications:

College or University degree with 1 year of retail experience, preferably in the Sporting Apparel & Footwear industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior management and keyed experience preferred.
