Role Summary:

The Chief Risk Officer, FCC plays a pivotal role in steering the risk management function at Fidelity Clearing Canada. This position is tasked with identifying and monitoring regulatory obligations and potential risks associated with FCC's operations, while also providing strategic guidance and vision for the Risk function throughout the organization. The Chief Risk Officer will be responsible for the ongoing enhancement of the FCC risk management framework, ensuring alignment with both business and regulatory standards.

This leadership position is integral to supporting FCC's growth and safeguarding its reputation by fostering the development of essential risk programs in collaboration with various business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee the strategic management of FCC's Risk Framework to ensure the continuous evolution, communication, and effectiveness of the Risk Management program. Manage significant risk events, including assessment, root cause analysis, communication, and validation of remediation measures to avert future occurrences. Prepare and present regular reports to Senior Management, the Risk and Controls Committee, and the Audit Committee of the Board regarding the status of FCC's Risk Programs. Engage in cross-Fidelity initiatives, ensuring thorough assessment of operational risks. Communicate effectively about new risk programs/initiatives and modifications to existing programs across the organization, providing necessary training as required. Uphold all managerial responsibilities, embodying Fidelity's core values and leadership principles.

Qualifications:

A university degree or equivalent professional experience. Over 10 years of experience in risk management and related programs. Previous experience in compliance and back-office operations. At least 10 years of experience in a management capacity. Professional certification in risk management or internal control is preferred. CA designation is an asset.

Skills and Attributes:

Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong presentation capabilities. A keen focus on risk management and a proactive mindset. Comprehensive understanding of the financial services and wealth management sectors in Canada. Familiarity with regulatory obligations for clearing firms, as well as the Canadian brokerage industry and operations, including the influence of technology. Proven experience in managing projects and scaling processes in line with company growth. Strong planning, monitoring, and control abilities to ensure efficient resource utilization for project objectives. Capacity to collaborate and influence stakeholders at all organizational levels. Proficient in gaining acceptance of ideas from senior executives. In-depth knowledge of risk assessment and control methodologies, with the ability to apply this expertise to diverse scenarios. Strong grasp of the Canadian regulatory framework, including CIRO rules and OSC regulations across provinces and territories.
