Position Summary

The Yard Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring our facilities maintain a clean and professional appearance. This position involves organizing equipment and maintaining cleanliness while also handling deliveries and pickups of smaller machinery using a G class vehicle. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, willing to assist, and eager to advance their career. This role serves as a gateway to various opportunities within Herc Rentals, including positions such as Driver, Mechanic, and Sales and Operations Coordinator.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in loading and unloading equipment for internal drivers, external haulers, and customers.
  • Ensure accuracy in delivery tickets and returns.
  • Maintain, clean, and organize heavy machinery and construction equipment.
  • Prepare orders and stage equipment for drivers.
  • Conduct routine safety checks on rental equipment to confirm operational integrity.
  • Keep the yard and work area clean and organized.
  • Address and resolve customer inquiries.
  • Provide expert guidance to customers regarding equipment selection, operation, and maintenance.
  • Facilitate equipment pickup and delivery in designated areas.
  • Support team members in various tasks.
Qualifications
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Willingness to work in both indoor and outdoor environments as required.
Skills Required
  • Effective communication skills with customers.
  • Proficiency in data entry and computer systems.
  • Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks, including bending, crouching, and reaching.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and understanding English.
  • Experience in safely operating various vehicles and equipment.
  • Capacity to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Dependability and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Active listening skills.
Compensation

The position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $22 to $25.
