Job Summary

GFL Environmental is seeking a skilled Laborer to join our team in the Bailieboro location. As a Laborer, you will be responsible for day-to-day operations related to waste receiving, handling, processing, and disposal.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive and process client waste, including bulk liquids/solids and containerized waste.
  • Take samples from waste vehicles and containers for laboratory analysis.
  • Load and unload waste vehicles, including vacuum trucks, tankers, straight trucks, and van trailers.
  • Operate plant machinery and assist with general maintenance.
  • Assist with waste treatment and wastewater treatment methods and processes.
  • Prepare shipments of hazardous and non-hazardous waste for transport.
  • Ensure compliance with company standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Notify supervisors of any defects, damages, mistakes, errors, contamination, spills, or other incidents.
  • Document and report completion status of work assigned.
Requirements
  • Previous hazardous and non-hazardous waste management experience is an asset.
  • Must be clean-shaven.
  • Must be able to work a 2-week rotation between morning and afternoon shifts, Monday-Friday, and one Saturday every four weeks.
  • Previous experience operating air diaphragm pumps and bulk liquid transfer systems is an asset.
  • Ability to lift upwards of 50 pounds.
  • Offers of employment are conditional upon successful completion of required drug testing.
  • Propane forklift experience/certification is an asset.
  • Must be motivated, able to multi-task, and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Must be comfortable working in a mostly outdoor environment.
