The Senior Advisor, Communications and External Relations will play a pivotal role in shaping external communication strategies that align with Medavie Blue Cross's mission and operational objectives. This position is essential for fostering public relations initiatives aimed at building trust and enhancing community relations.
Working under the guidance of the Senior Manager, the successful candidate will collaborate across various levels of the organization. The ideal individual will possess a strategic mindset towards communication efforts and thrive in a dynamic, collaborative environment. Experience in audience engagement and consistent messaging will be crucial for effectively conveying the organization's operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the formulation and execution of external communication strategies to support business goals.
- Monitor and report on community engagement initiatives and their impact.
- Oversee the creation and refinement of content for various communication channels, ensuring clarity and relevance.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to manage brand reputation and produce engaging content.
- Advise business partners on strategic communication approaches.
- Implement and enhance environmental, social, and governance strategies.
- Strengthen community engagement to bolster the organization's reputation.
- Develop metrics to assess the effectiveness of communication and engagement activities.
- Advocate for best practices in communicating organizational changes and innovations.
- Ensure alignment between internal and external messaging.
- Craft effective communication strategies for business initiatives and operational updates.
- Manage day-to-day communication and external relations activities.
- Provide support for crisis communication and issue management.
Qualifications:
- 5-10 years of experience in strategic communications, with a degree in Communications or Public Relations.
- Ability to work on-site a minimum of three days per week.
- Proven success in delivering communication strategies in fast-paced settings.
- Experience in developing community engagement strategies for diverse audiences.
- Strong advisory skills for senior leadership on communication matters.
- Professional handling of sensitive and confidential issues.
- Collaborative team player focused on achieving results.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Adept at transforming complex information into accessible content.
- Strong time management skills to handle multiple priorities effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal and project management abilities.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently as well as in a team.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and travel as needed.
- Bilingualism in French and English is an asset but not mandatory.
