Robotics Software Development Manager

Amazon is seeking a highly skilled Robotics Software Development Manager to join our team. As a key member of our robotics team, you will be responsible for delivering critical robotic capabilities and managing a diverse team of software engineers.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement robotic systems that can perceive, learn, and act intelligently alongside humans.
  2. Manage a team of software engineers to design, build, and deliver end-to-end robotic systems.
  3. Prioritize being a great people manager: motivate, reward, and coach your team to excel in their roles.
  4. Stay current with technical skills to contribute to architecture and design discussions.
  5. Participate in deep-dive troubleshooting exercises and drive technical post-mortem discussions to identify root causes of complex issues.
  6. Set a vision for your team and create product roadmaps to deliver product roadmap items and other cross-team projects.
Requirements
  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field.
  2. Experience in solving complicated machine learning and/or robotics problems for automation tasks.
  3. Experience in designing, developing, and deploying enterprise solutions using Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  4. Experience as a software developer in Java, Kotlin, C++, and/or Python.
  5. Ability to build and manage effectively a diverse, talented team of software engineers.
  6. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with both technical and business people.
  7. Ability to distill informal customer requirements into problem definitions, dealing with ambiguity and competing objectives.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. PhD or MS in a robotics-related discipline.
  2. Experience shipping computer vision, machine learning, or robotics products.
  3. Broad experience across Robotics, including hardware, software, science, and machine learning.
  4. Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy.
  5. Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching, and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers.
