About the Role

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Economic Analyst to join our dynamic team at Ignite. As an Economic Analyst, you will play a key role in supporting our economic and business development strategies. This is a 24-hour-per-week, 12-month contract position that offers the opportunity to contribute to impactful economic initiatives while working in a collaborative and innovative environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct In-Depth Research and Data Analysis: Evaluate labor markets, demographics, and business ecosystems to inform strategic decision-making and support regional growth.
  • Prepare Reports and Update Website: Review and analyze economic data to prepare reports and update our website with the latest information.
  • Develop Economic Forecasts: Utilize econometric techniques to develop economic forecasts and make recommendations to support business growth.
  • Conduct Surveys and Analyze Statistics: Conduct surveys to determine and analyze statistics, wage information, labor supply and demand, tax revenues, agriculture production, and more.
  • Maintain Records and Reports: Maintain records and reports related to regional economic development and assess economic impacts of various inputs.
  • Work with Local Leadership: Work with local leadership to implement initiatives, projects, and programs in accordance with our economic development strategy.
  • Update Economic Dashboard: Update our Economic Dashboard monthly, including data collection and data visualization.
  • Write Economic Articles: Write a 100-word economic article for our Ignite Newsletter monthly.
  • Respond to Ad Hoc Requests: Respond to ad hoc requests of our CEO and Directors.
Qualifications
  • Education: Working towards or earned a recognized university business degree with relevant area of study (i.e., statistics, economic and/or community development, business administration, etc.) or an acceptable combination of post-secondary education, experience, and training.
  • Experience: Experience in a collaborative, goal-oriented environment.
  • Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Tableau Software, strong data visualization and research skills, excellent communication and presentation abilities, ability to work independently and with diverse stakeholders.
  • Language: Bilingualism (French/English) is preferred.
  • Software: Experience with CRM systems (e.g., HubSpot) is an asset.
