Your Opportunity:
The University of Alberta Hospital is a leading clinical, research, and teaching hospital, treating over 700,000 patients annually from western and northern Canada. This position is in the General Surgical Intensive Care Unit (GSICU).
Job Summary:
As a Respiratory Therapist I, you will assess patients, develop and implement respiratory therapy care plans, and monitor their progress. You will be responsible for various diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and interventions. You will collaborate with clinical teams to enhance clinical outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess patients and develop respiratory therapy care plans
- Implement and monitor respiratory therapy care plans
- Collaborate with clinical teams to enhance clinical outcomes
- Provide training and assist healthcare providers in the use and care of respiratory equipment
- Educate patients and their families regarding diseases, medications, equipment, and treatments
Required Qualifications:
Active or eligible registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA)
Additional Required Qualifications:
Current Basic Life Support (BLS-HCP) certification
Preferred Qualifications:
Acute or critical care experience
Orientation to the position's major and minor clinical areas
Current charge experience; experience precepting students, developing quality initiatives, and implementing practice change
