Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Millwright to join the Plant Maintenance team at UBC Hospital in Vancouver, BC. As a Millwright with VCH, you will be responsible for performing skilled millwright work at the journeyman level, including assembling, installing, aligning, altering, repairing, maintaining, troubleshooting, inspecting, dismantling, and moving industrial machinery and mechanical equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform skilled millwright work at the journeyman level, including assembling, installing, aligning, altering, repairing, maintaining, troubleshooting, inspecting, dismantling, and moving industrial machinery and mechanical equipment.
  • Fabricate and install machine parts and components.
  • Perform electrical and mechanical repairs to equipment and mechanical and electrical repairs on systems approaching the journeyman level.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a journeyman Millwright (Industrial Mechanic) recognized by the Province of BC.
  • Two (2) years' recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
