Global Functions Technology (GFT) operates within RBC's Technology and Operations division, making a significant impact by collaborating with various partners across the organization to provide cutting-edge IT solutions. Our clientele spans across Risk, Finance, HR, CAO, Audit, Legal, Compliance, Financial Crime, Capital Markets, Personal and Commercial Banking, and Wealth Management. We also spearhead the creation of digital tools and platforms that enhance collaboration.

This position is responsible for the technical design and development of cross-functional, multi-platform application systems. It requires extensive knowledge, skills, and practices to handle complex tasks. As a Workday Technical Specialist, you will collaborate with technical, functional, business, and vendor teams across RBC to execute the HCM Program (i.e., Plan, Architect, Build, Test, and Deploy).

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate with HR teams, senior stakeholders, business management, QA, developers, and third-party vendors regularly to ensure the timely completion of deliverables within the HCM program and Workday Sustainment.

Technical Analysis and Consulting

  • Evaluate and analyze integration requirements, current environment, and technology platforms to propose solutions that meet functional integration needs across the Workday ecosystem, including future HCM solutions and various internal/external systems.
  • As an Integration Developer, focus on creating integration solutions that ensure successful deployment using diverse integration technologies and services.
  • Establish strong, sustainable relationships with business and functional teams by engaging in workshops to understand their needs and requirements.
  • Identify technical challenges and risks, defining mitigation strategies in collaboration with delivery and operations teams.
  • Work with impacted groups to coordinate integration across systems.
  • Participate in detailed design sessions to identify, track, and resolve integration design/build issues.
  • Understand integration interdependencies and address issues arising from those dependencies.
  • Stay informed about emerging trends and new functionalities related to Workday integration and other relevant domains.

Planning, Implementation & Support

  • Assist in managing integration deliverables associated with the HCM project and Workday Implementation.
  • Collaborate closely with the QA team to ensure they comprehend the integration design, architecture, and functionalities while managing testing use cases.
  • Track issues and risks, working with the PMO and team members to mitigate blockers.
  • Provide feedback on project implementation plans and support requirements.
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
  • Make informed decisions regarding when to escalate issues and how to balance requirements.
  • Drive the Change Request process specific to integration.
  • Analyze the impact of functional Change Requests on integrations.
  • Provide forward-thinking technical leadership for integration design and development, considering current and future operational models.
  • Identify and resolve issues using platforms such as Workday Community.

Relationships & Communication

  • Collaborate closely with HRCT Architects and Lead Architect to ensure alignment with business and technology strategies with an integration focus.
  • Communicate effectively and build rapport with team members, stakeholders, and interfacing groups through various techniques and collaboration from initiation to completion.
  • Facilitate meetings for technical design/architecture, decision-making, problem-solving, and task implementation.
  • Resolve technical conflicts/issues and escalate to appropriate parties as necessary.

Development & Coaching

  • Act as a team leader, facilitating knowledge transfer sessions and providing day-to-day direction, expertise, feedback, coaching, and development to enhance the capabilities of junior staff.
  • Continuously improve skills and knowledge across all aspects of the organization, business, and information systems.
  • Demonstrate expertise in Workday Integration and IT infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • Experience in Workday Implementation and Support.
  • 3-5 years of experience within the Workday Ecosystem.
  • Previous experience leading a team of Integration Developers.
