Become a Life Skills Support Specialist

At WJS Canada, we are dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals with disabilities. As a Life Skills Support Specialist, you will play a crucial role in guiding clients towards greater independence and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate the learning of essential life skills, including effective communication, emotional resilience, financial management, and social engagement.
  • Assist clients in exploring and engaging in activities that align with their interests.
  • Support the enhancement of life skills while identifying potential volunteer and employment pathways.
  • Provide transportation and companionship for clients during appointments and community activities.
  • Promote community participation through various educational and recreational initiatives.
  • Connect clients with necessary support services and employment resources.
Qualifications:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent in Disability Studies, Social Sciences, or a related discipline.
Experience:
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
Licenses and Certifications:
  • A valid driver's license and proof of insurance.
  • First Aid/CPR certification, Non-Violent Crisis Prevention training, and other relevant certifications.
Desired Skills:
  • Strong physical fitness and the ability to interpret nonverbal communication.
  • Proficiency in various computer applications.
  • A commitment to the principles of community-based living.
