About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Student Assistant to join our dynamic Career Centre Volunteer Program team. In this role, you will play a vital part in fostering a vibrant community of student volunteers dedicated to promoting the Career Centre's diverse range of workshops, programs, and services to Douglas College students.
Your primary focus will be on supporting the program coordinator in various tasks, including training new volunteers, organizing team meetings, and developing engaging promotional materials. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to social media campaigns, event planning, and marketing initiatives that enhance student awareness of the Career Centre's offerings.
Responsibilities:- Assist in preparing comprehensive training materials for new volunteers prior to their assignments.
- Actively participate in onboarding sessions and regular team meetings.
- Collaborate with the supervisor to empower student volunteers, enhancing their knowledge of career development skills and fostering a sense of community responsibility.
- Support the preparation of weekly Career Centre Volunteers Newsletters.
- Contribute to the design, writing, editing, and formatting of digital and printed communications for students, faculty, and employers, ensuring promotional materials are fresh and current.
- Assist with communication via Career Centre social media platforms, engaging with students and promoting the services available to all current and past students.
- Provide support to the Coordinator, Business Development Events in event planning and marketing activities related to the promotion of the Career Centre.
- Utilize testimonials from employers, faculty advisors, and students for publication on Career Centre Social Media platforms.
- Assist the Coordinator, Business Development Promotions with digital marketing initiatives, program review focus group events, and contact database updates.
To excel in this role, you will possess:
- Excellent communication skills, enabling you to effectively engage with individuals and share the benefits of Career Centre services.
- Proficiency in social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
- Strong writing abilities.
- The ability to work independently and self-motivatedly with minimal supervision.
- Previous experience in a sales environment is an asset.
